BFI NETWORK South East: Directing Actors Lab is coming the Luton
Thursday 23 May - Hat Factory Arts Centre
Delivered in partnership with the Hat Factory Arts Centre, this day-long lab supports eight emerging directors looking to develop their skills and confidence when directing actors.
The lab is led by David Anderson, a director whose films (including his BFI NETWORK short Reflection) have screened at festivals and won awards around the world. It will predominantly be a practical session in which every participant directs and will get hands-on experience of working with actors on the day. Using simple scenes, with limited dialogue, the exercises are designed to provide participants with tools and approaches they can use in practical exercises and for the rest of their careers.

About the Theme:
In the hustle and bustle of modern life, amidst the clamour for productivity and progress, the profound significance of care can often be overshadowed. Through a diverse array of mediums, this exhibition aims to shine a spotlight on the often unseen and undervalued labour of care that sustains our communities, nurtures our relationships, and shapes our collective humanity. The exhibition will invite viewers to pause and reflect on the multifaceted nature of care, acknowledging it as both an individual responsibility and a collective endeavour.
