About the Hat District #CreativePioneers
The Culture Trust Luton is delighted to announce the arrival of Anna as one of the town’s most talented entrepreneurs to the Hat Factory Arts Centre. The first Hat District Creative Pioneers will have rent free space in the arts centre to develop their business ideas, collaborate and network in the Hat District 'creative ecosystem'.
The Creative Pioneers will help the Culture Trust shape ways to reach young people from diverse backgrounds across Luton who may also have an interest in working in the creative industry sector in future. This is considered to be the fastest growing sector of UK’s economy, worth over £100bn per year and employing over two million people (Tim Davie, DCMS Blog 26 April 2019).
The first Creative Pioneers will be based at the Hat Factory Arts Centre until the restoration of Hat Works is completed. Future entrepreneurs will then start their journey in Luton’s oldest remaining hat factory (built in the 1840s) in the heart of the creative cluster.
The Pioneers have already shared their ideas in workshops relating to how Hat Works should be designed, used and marketed to meet the needs of the town’s budding entrepreneurs.
